Smartphone photography/teaching

“What is the best camera” is a question I am often asked and the best answer I can give is, to quote Chase Jarvis, “The one you have with you” Now days most people carry a smartphone and most smartphones have a really good quality camera built in. Smartphone cameras do have limitations but once you are aware of this you can capture great images.

Remember it’s not about what device was used to capture the image it’s about freezing that moment in time to enjoy and share into the future, it doesn’t have to be perfect.

I have been teaching photography to Transition Year Students for about 15 years and even though I started using cameras I now focus mostly on smartphone photography.
